Cala Gonone Karte
Built at the foot of Mount Codula Manna upon a lava flow from the Tertiary Period that covered the oldest limestone deposit from the Cretaceous Period, it is the ideal departure point for sea and land trips to surrounding areas.
Calagonone, "frazione" of Dorgali 8it means that it depends on it), is a seaside resort in the innermost spot within the gulf of Orosei.
The limestone cliffs are here drilled by the marine erosion which has created numerous caves.
The most famous and beautiful is the "Grotta del Bue Marino". It gets its name from some seals of a very rare species (monachus albiventer) which still survive in the golf.
