The Village of Fonni is located in the mountains of the Gennargentu and is well known as winter and summer destination. In fact, it serves as base camp for all sorts of wintersport activities at the Bruncu Spina located at 1600 meters. The Village is an interesting point of departure for various kinds of excursions, like the climb on the crest that reaches the highest point of the Island - P. La Marmora.
The historic centre stills contains numerous examples of traditional architecture based on granite, nice is also the ethnologic museum.
Of particular interest are the church of Saint Giovanni Battista, with original traces of the late gothic structure, as well as the Sanctuary of the Madonna dei Martiri, annexed by the Franciscan munches in the 7th century, with its circle of wall paintings of Sardinian artists.
Of special interest is also the production of local sweets and cheese, as the famous goat cheese from Caprala di Paratobello.
