Gavoi is a classic example of a shepherdsvillage at the feet of the Gennargentu.
Its historic centre contains numerous typical Sardinian homes made from granite, while the relevant architectural church of the S. Gavino, erected in gothic - aragonese style in the 5th century, is made of trachite.
One of the nicest and biggest artificial lakes is only a few km. distant, on the principle street that crosses the Barbagia (SS398), and offers a wide range of touristic structures that are nicely surrounded by dense forests.
