In every bigger city you can find one or more public food markets (called: Mercato Civile).
Those markets offer all from fresh vegetables, fruits, meat, fish, sea food and also fine food and specialities of this island.

It is an "adventure" to go shopping at these public markets, which are frequented nearly exclusive by native ones of the area, to satisfy their need of daily fresh food.

Sometimes it is a bit habtuation-needily to look at the movement and the way of exhibition of the products, but don't worry, also here are respected the sanitary rules and laws very well. And you can have some tastes of freshest sea food or shell fish directly on the way.
